On September 03rd 2011 we held our monthly women’s meeting. This month special theme was “Human trafficking and domestic violence”. For the meeting we invited Veronica Isaías from the “Association of Human Traffic and domestic violence”.
We opened the meeting with a time of praise and worship and the presence of God opened the ground to receive His word.
Veronica Isaías shared about the awareness of Human trafficking and about the high percentage of domestic violence in our families, our cities and in the country.
It is a pleasure to meet you here again on our web page, friends, family and followers in Christ. All you out there that are following all the great things that God is doing in our midst, we know that you are there, that you are with us and support the kingdom of God with us together. I am very glad to be able to share with you today again and hope that you have a relaxed time and have a comfortable place where you can receive the word of God.
This article is about the theme of “Discipleship” or “to be a disciple”. The word originally comes from the Greek word “a learner” or “pupil”. Doesn't remind you the word pupil a little bit of school or the word a learner on your parents? The first time I knew about the meaning of the word it reminded me a little bit on it, because as a child you are following your parents wherever they go and you explore your world on every level of your age. As a child you love to learn about everything, the people and the objects around you, the language and the expressions that are used around you. In order for you to learn you need to have someone you can imitate or someone that you as a child can look up to or follow. It is one that gives the example and one that imitates and learns. In the view of a relationship of a pupil and a teacher. It is one that teaches and one that learns.
The same way you can see it in the Scripture as well it was Jesus the master, the teacher, the one to be followed and the one that gave the example on how we should live our lives. On the other hand it is the believers, it is you and me which Christ called to follow him, to learn from him and to live our lives according to the principles of the kingdom of God.
Discipleship as you can see has a lot do to also with spiritual authority. The bible describes it like followed: “The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his Lord!” (Mt. 10:24) It is the disciple the one that learns, the one that follows and the one that is submitted to his master. A disciple follows and tries to soak all the teachings of his master in and abides during that in good attitude toward his leader.
I think as a believer or as a non- believer all of us have heard about the twelve disciples that Jesus had called on the mount. (Mark 3). Jesus at that time was followed by a huge crowd wherever he went. Surrounded by the crowed, serving people and ministering their needs it was quiet interesting what happened. Jesus turned away his eyes from the massive crowed of people that where looking out for help and he turned to call twelve people to be his disciples. The twelve where called to learn from him and to follow him on his path. At the same time Jesus took the time to facilitate his message, his lifestyle and his teachings in his disciples. He invested his live in others. Jesus expanded the kingdom of God in his followers. At the same time, the lives of the ones that followed got so impacted and transformed that even over two thousand years later everyone remembered them, because after they learned and after Jesus had gone they used what the got taught.
The great commission of every believer is to make other Disciples and to multiply what God has equipped you with. After you were a learner God commissioned you to give to others the following: “ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. (Mt. 28:19-20)
First is that God places you in a time of a learner, but than what you learned he said practice it and share it with others. Just the same way he spent his life in others as well we are called to invest in people around us and expand the kingdom of God in them.
To be a disciple of Christ doesn't have anything to do on what social level you might stand. When you look at the ministry of Jesus the ones that followed him and the ones that were willingly to give their lives where sinners, tax collectors and woman. Even the disciples that Jesus called were simple people with a lot of different attitudes and views. The only thing that God asked for is that you give your life to follow and do his will. At the same time you will discover a way greater calling that God gives you.
Look at this example from Mt. 4/19: “And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
Peter and Andrew were simple fisherman but when they received the calling of the Lord they left everything behind and they followed Jesus on his way and discovered as well that God had a greater calling for them; to be fishers of man.
Before I close this article I like to show you what the greatest prove of a disciple is. The greatest prove that we are disciple for the kingdom of God is that we love one another. How is the world going to know God, the greatness of the Lord? How is the world going to recognize that we are his followers. In that we love one another. John 13: 34-35: “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
Be encouraged to continue following the Lord, show others the greatness of the Lord and bring others into this awesome lifestyle with God. Express the same love in whom he has loved you and reflect through this love that you are for real his disciple.

No únicamente Justicia sino cómo expander tu herencia
